Executive Summary
The 4 1/2" Tubing Hanger is a compact wellhead component designed to form part of the primary well barrier while holding the tubing string in place. It is used to suspend production tubing and to seal the tubing from the A‑annulus, providing reliable pressure containment and well integrity.
The hanger is screwed to the top joint of tubing (or pup‑joints as required for space‑out) and is landed in the casing flange in compression or tension depending on the wellhead assembly. Elastomeric seals prevent communication between the tubing and annulus, ensuring safe fluid containment.
This configuration supports safe and precise operation, reduces potential leak paths, and simplifies maintenance in critical wellhead systems.

Detailed Description
Tubing hangers form part of the primary well barrier while holding the tubing string in place. The tubing hanger is screwed to the top joint of the tubing (or pup-joints as required for space out) and is landed in the casing flange in either compression or tension, depending on the wellhead assembly. Elastomeric seals prevent communication between the tubing and the A‑annulus, maintaining well integrity.
The 4 1/2" Tubing Hanger suspends 4 1/2" production tubing and provides a pressure seal between the tubing and the annulus. It is installed in an 11" casing flange, forming a secure interface with the wellhead system.
The hanger is used with tubing hanger spools and couplings, allowing integration into the wellhead assembly. It has a pressure rating of 5,000 to 10,000 PSI and meets API 6A standards for materials, design, and pressure containment.
Ports can be included for hydraulic or chemical control lines to connect downhole safety valves or injection systems if required. The hanger supports the tubing string mechanically while maintaining sealing and pressure containment at the wellhead.
